Hi everyone. I'm 25 years old.
I graduated with a 2.2 degree in computer science and work for a large IT company. I'm now thinking I want to do something a little more stimulating. I've got my heart set on being a doctor, possibly in psychiatry.
However with a 2.2 there seems to be only a few uni's who will accept me in the UK. These require the GAMSAT.
I want to take the exam in 2009 is it possible to revise from now until then whilst also working full time? Are my chances of getting admitted any good? Or should I take further study, i.e. retake A levels or do a science degree? |

what do you mean, 'is it possible'?
You're 25. You should be able to decide if you're capable of study and work combined.
Are you looking abroad, or just in the UK?
I don't know what 2.2 equates to, but regardless, you wont study Med in Australia unless you're prepared to pay full fee as an international applicant..... (can anyone confirm that the UK doesn't get the same benefits as NZ????)
From what you're saying, 2.2 sounds pretty borderline. Certainly, I would expect that if its not good enough for the UK, then its unlikely to give you a great shot in Australia.....
Regardless of whether you're shooting for UK or anywhere, I think that you should be going back to study again if you're really serious about pursuing med. Do your own research about the smartest way to do this. Medicine requires people who are capable of self directed learning.
Good Luck. |
