Hi

my friend told me to take UMAT instead of GAMSAT, because it is easier. I checked some med schools' requirements and found UMAT is an option.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you

hey Mitau,

Yes UMAT is an option, however it's only open to high school leavers. If you've already started uni then you'll have to take the gamsat. Unless the university you plan to attend has special procedures regarding tertiary education and medical entry via the umat=)

Good luck

hi mitau 2004,

im pretty sure you CAN sit the UMAT regardless of your degree history. I know that to get into UWS you have to have sat the UMAT exam rather than the GAMSAT, same with UNSW. And in both cases, you can be a graduate entry. Ring around because each university differs.

Hope that helps

To get into an undergraduate med course (the latest you can apply is 1st year uni) you need to do the UMAT.

To get into a graduate med course, so if you have done/ nearly done a degree, you have to do the GAMSAT. The only other option for this is the MCAT, which is like an international version, but if you are in Australia, you must do the GAMSAT.

Don't believe anyone who tells you you can get into a graduate entry course using UMAT. It's all lies.
