Hi all,
How are you doing? Might be snowed down with Gamsat notes/practice tests
Hope someone could give me an answer to one of my concerns.
I am planning to sit GAMSAT this year and if I get a good score, what are the chances for deferring Uni for an year i.e, Opt for 2012 Jan than 2011 Jan entry?
I am working full time, mother of a three year old boy and a full time wife, so we have some other plans that need to be implemented before 2012 if possible.
If anyone have gone through the same path, please do let me know.
Many thanks in advance! |

Hi LightRose
You are a real determined lady...Kudos on having the guts to pursue your doc dreams inspite of having so many commitments already Well you will be glad to know that you are not alone... many people have successfully juggled a career, family and then gone on to ace the GAMSAT!!
As to your question, well.. according to ACER, a GAMSAT score is valid for two years. This means you can sit for the GAMSAT this year and use your score to apply to Universities in 2012
Best of Luck!! |

Thank you...Much appreciate your speedy response!!
That gives me a lot of relief. still time is running out...
ACER info booklet says so, but I thought they collected all the details (GPA, choice of Uni.'s etc) while we apply for the gamsat and based on the score applied to all universities straight away... so i was concerned whether it would later become a headache, to cancel these proceedings etc..
I read something like that in the UQ SoM Future students' page as well, where they said once you get an offer, you cant defer an year's study until and unless you have a valid reason!! All these muddled up info caused my concerns
Well, i applied for gamsat last week and all these concerns were gone!! |

| Hi. You can sit the GAMSAT and then not apply for a uni place this year. You can, however, use your score from this year's GAMSAT to then apply for a place next year (i.e. for 2012 entry). Or you can sit the GAMSAT next year as well. Then you apply with the better score out of the two times you would have sat it. There is no obligation to apply for uni if you sit the GAMSAT - that process comes later in the year, once the marks are released etc. and people have had time to assess their options based on their GAMSAT score(s). Best of luck! |
