Hi, i understand that we'll be tested on year 12 physics and first year organic/inorganic chem and biology, but should I basically be studying everything from these topics or are there any specifics that could narrow this down?? With my chem course for example, a lot of the textbook seemed to be superfluous to the actual course content we were learning.
Help?! |

The test is a mixture of understanding basic science and figuring stuff out. The broader your knowledge the better off you'll be though, as questions could touch on just about any science topic (though if it is beyond first year uni level they'll probably provide an explanation and some formulas before asking you a bunch of questions on your understanding of the material just asked).
Even if they explain something in the exam paper, of course you would have a huge advantage if you were already somewhat familiar with that branch of science, so you don't have to think so much during an exam which is notorious for people not finishing if they wasted too much time on a few questions.
You might want to begin with the ACER sample questions and then check out MCAT stuff which is easy to find online. The bulk of my revision so far has been MCAT stuff and I've found this to be excellent preparation for the official ACER GAMSAT sample questions. |

Hi Kelz,
Agree with Mokusatsu.
I'll say that reading a good textbook and getting a strong science basic knowledge will help you answer the GAMSAT questions.
Do not avoid studying them. You might feel bored and a time might come where you feel it is worthless, but what is more important is for you to get the basic knowledge.
A suggestion ... mix a little internet with the textbook. Just reading a textbook might become monotonous and boring after some time. Try combining a little visual explanation from youtube or presentations with the written explanation in the textbook. That might do the trick
Good luck with that |
