Hi all,

firstly I have to say it is fantastic to find a forum on Gamsat, after spending this year in a seemingly endless pile of paperwork surrounding UMAT and other forms for medicine entry.

I am witting hoping from some advice from wiser minds and people who have been in my position before and would be greatly thankful for any help.

I finished Grade 12 this year with an OP6 (In Queensland obviously) due to a high sporting commitment which has now left me in a rut with entry into med despite obtaining reasonable results for UMAT.

I aspire to going into medicine after graduate studies, I would like to study Business management with a major in Real estate and development as this has been something I have also found interest in and I am quite content to have this as a back up option if my interest for medicine wanes or my GAMSAT/GPA does not work out as hoped.

My main questions I guess would be, after studying grade 12 Chemistry, Biology and a year of Physics in grade 11 are there any recommended programs or areas of study I should focus on to aid with the GAMSAT testing?

Do you guys recommend any particular preparation course (I didn't do one for UMAT) and that seemed to be fine, however I believe GAMSAT would be a lot more of a task.

And also just out of interest which university bachelors people completed before going into medicine?

Hi Tate,

First GAMSAT is not an option, it is the only option. If you are really very madly interested in GAMSAT, then go for it. If not, then it is but useless to spend time in another round of paperwork for GAMSAT.

If you are decided on GAMSAT, then read on...

GAMSAT requires you to have a basic science (biology and chemistry) knowledge of 1st year university level and a 12th grade physics knowledge. The questions set in GAMSAT requires analytical reasoning skills. Practise loads to acquire these important skills.

GAMSAT is a tougher nut to crack than UMAT. You might not do any preps for UMAT, but GAMSAT without prep is unthinkable.

About University bachelors ... you do need a bachelors degree to sit for GAMSAT. The degree can be in any subject... science or non-science.
