Hello, I'm planning on sitting GAMSAT once only in 2011, after having completed a Bachelor of Medical Science degree.

So, I was wondering if any of the GAMSAT veterans on this forum had anything in general that they wish they knew before they started preparing? About preparation time required, test strategy, resources...anything at all, really. I know it's a broad question...

I'd also like to know if there was anyone here who got a particularly high score on the GAMSAT, what it was and how you prepared for the test.

Thankyou (=

Hi Miya,

You are right. This is a really general question. But I will try and give you some specific answers:

GAMSAT MCQs are reasoning based...you will have to analyse a passage or given data and understand it well before you find the right answer. Critical reading is an important skill...if you dont know how to do it ...learn it fast.

A good way to begin would be to target your weaknesses first. If you are allergic to writing essays...start writing a few on simple, general topics. When you accomplish something challenging it makes you more confident.

Don't tax yourself too much...balance your preparation. After you have completed something difficult, go onto something easy, something that you enjoy more.

Solving lots and lots of sample questions really helps. Get hold of some mock test papers and try and get as much practice as you can before you actually sit for the GAMMY.

Hope these tips help you...Best of Luck!!
