Would appreciate confirmation of below.

Just checked instructions on the ACER Gamsat site regarding GPA calculation. If I'm correct, those who recieved degrees from unis in columns A-C (ref undergraduate grading system conversion table) would recieve a GAMSA score of 7 if they got a high distinction, and 6.75 if they got a distinction - not much of a reward for a HD! As this appears illogical and if correct would boost my GPA significantly (confidence boost prior to GAMSAT 2010) I've posted the question here.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

you're not at an advantage, though it may seem like it. those tables are only to convert the different grading systems between the unis. that's why so many unis are in Category B, probably because they use the same grading systems, and also why no conversion table is exactly the same as another.

E.g. I'm at Melb Uni and if you and I both score a 79% in a subject, you'd get a 6.75 and I'd get 6.5. But if we both get 80%, you'd stay at 6.75 and I'd get 7.

It all works out the same, there's no escaping the hard work!

If you get a percentage and a grade, you use the GAMSA column, regardless of what uni you went to.

If you got a mark out of 100 (say, you get 70), then you use column A, right?

Cheers.

If by column A you mean the GAMSA column, then yes.
