To all those in a similar position as me,
Apologies for text length but a bit about me...
A UK resident who left college at 18. Gained good GCSE's but subsequently failed A-levels miserably. I'm pretty sure this was due to a lack of interest rather than cabability!
Anyway, fulfilled a life-long ambition and became a paramedic (also passed a degree through my profession in emergency care). But now........ I really want to persue a career in medicine. In my mid-twenties and now as a mature student I have to sit the UK GAMSAT (hoping for 2007).
There is so much revision material available on this world web that my brain is smoking and I'm very confused++. Anyone with any advice to share would be greatly appreciated! And I hope to hear from some of you in a similar position soon! Wish I'd worked harder in my A-level's! Lee |

Hey Lee,
I'm a 27 old first year med student. I was in a similar situation as yourself last year. Depending on time and your background knowledge there are two straight options for you. First is go over the past questions that every man and his dog has. These are really easy but give a guide as to the areas that need to be covered...study these areas but not too in-depth. Second is sit a course. This is by far the better option but you pay for it! I would say Dess O'Neils course is one that you might want to look into. He offers it both in the UK and here.
Any worries shoot me a line

Hi there,
I am in a similar situation, in that I am in mid to late (OK, Late) 20's and am going to sit the GAMSAT in 2007. I did a degree in Chinese Medicine and so am hoping that if I get the study material from ACER and then just brush up on my science (english is no problem for me, I hope), then I will be OK. Im not going to do a prep course due to fiscal status, and having two kids. (Those two issues are probably interrelated.... )
Hopefully this will be enough.
Oh, and does anyone now anything about the application process to Uni of Melbourne? Interviews?
regards,
Lea. |
