What kinda part time jobs while studying?

Would be starting first year BSc soon, wants/needs to work part time.
Anyone has any ideas or experience of what type of job to look for?
As in something related to Science or Medicine, would be interested in Lab jobs but would I be able to get one with no qualifications whatsoever?

Ideally it would be evening or night shifts at labs but I doubt I can get one without any qualifications.

Thought of doing the Cert III in Lab skills course while doing my BSc but it's full time and I can't find a part time course. It clashes with my BSc.

Any experience?

I'm going to work as a PT, and a group fitness instructor... as well as some Air Force reserves work.

I'm aiming for something that keeps me level, rather than more medicine. I like the idea of the exercise, as I think it will help keep my stress levels down, and the reserves are great, because that's tax free! yay!

Could you find part-time work as a TA (technical assistant)? Most research institutes and larger labs employ TA's to make up stock solutions, autoclaving etc. They really only require on the job training, nothing major.

Also, how about working as an orderly? You get lots of exercise and you are in a hospital environment to boot.

Orderly is an option. But I don't see many(if any) of them listed on Job websites. There was one but it says experience essential haha.

TA would be good, but as with the orderly jobs, they need some form of experience or qualification for it, at least a simple certificate.

Maybe those that require no experience nor qualifications don't advertise on job websites? Any idea where I can find them? Large labs that operates 24hours would make sense. Suits me too, I can take the night shifts.

maybe you could do some volunteer work, and work yourself into a job through the contacts you make?

If the hospital system is anything like the rest of the goverment, then its very incestuous, and most jobs are taken by friends of friends, and mates of bosses.

and, you'll get some volunteering expereinces to talk about at the interview.

Great idea lol. I applied for Mid year entry, unless they cancel the whole intake, I'm quite confident in getting a place. So it's this year, but not yet.

Where do you propose I look for these volunteer work? What kind of work would be good? I'm sick of fund raising stuffs but any other should be fine. Or do you mean look for them through uni when I start?

Do you have any contacts at the local hospital? otherwise, maybe go straight into HR and have a chat.

Will make you look keen, and as long as your charming and friendly, who knows what you might get yourself into.

At the moment I'm working with a company called Calvary Silver Circle. Its complementary to the study of medicine. The work involves going to the home of the elderly who live independantly. They can live on their own at 80 or 90 but need help with a couple fo things around the house - plus a little chat if they are lonley. They are desperate for more workers and can fit you in around study.
