Hi,
I am preparing myself for this year’s (2012) GAMSAT exam. My GPA is just over 5.5 and very certain that won’t be able to achieve good marks in GAMSAT. I would be lucky if I could achieve just the qualifying mark which is 50 in each section.
I think from this year we have option to choose up to six universities all over Australia. Though I live in Sydney, but I am ready to move to any place in Australia just for the opportunity to get into any medical school. That’s why; I won’t choose ‘University of Sydney’- because it’s so competitive. Actually, I would like to avoid the top universities. So, could anybody please advise me which universities are suitable from my situation? Thanks.
Regards,
Ashraf |

If you think that you're going to be lucky to achieve 50 in each section then picking a Uni won't be an issue because no one will take you.
Most will require at least 60+ to even get an interview. Someone might correct me (there might be an exception to the rule) but the days of getting in with a score in the 50s is over. It's just too competitive now.
So first step is work on your positivity...
Next is hit the books! |

Hmmm. Firstly, I think you need to be more positive, and focus on getting the best GAMSAT you can. Telling everyone (and yourself) that you're going to get a poor mark is bound to hurt you.
Cat is right with the advice to work on your positivity, and hey, if you do end up scoring poorly, at least you'll know where you stand within the cohort..... and that will help you make the best decisions for your future.
I know people who have sat GAMSAT 5+ times before finally getting into Medicine..... I guess it depends how hard you're prepared to work, and how much you want this? |
